CHICAGO, IL – Fund for a Safer Future (FSF), the nation’s leading gun violence prevention funding collaborative, has engaged Cooper Coleman LLC to lead the search for its next President and Chief Executive Officer. Founded in 2011, FSF is a donor collaborative of more than 35 members that has awarded over $27 million in direct grants and leveraged nearly $260 million in aligned giving to reduce gun violence nationwide. FSF supports a wide range of strategies, including research, community violence intervention, and firearm suicide prevention, and recently launched a bold 2025–2029 strategic plan to expand resources, strengthen the field, and advance policy change.

In 2024 alone, FSF awarded $3.6 million in grants to 54 organizations and institutions, supporting efforts that helped secure more than 100 new gun safety policies at the state level and mobilize over $520 million in community violence intervention initiatives. With recent, transformative investments in the Fund of more than $25 million, FSF is poised to double its grantmaking in the years ahead.

“FSF is at a defining moment, with momentum in the field and unprecedented resources to scale impact,” said Johnny Cooper, Founder and CEO of Cooper Coleman. “This search will identify a leader who can harness FSF’s collaborative power, strengthen its partnerships, and guide the next chapter of growth in the fight to end gun violence.” Reporting to the Executive Committee of FSF’s Advisory Board, the President + CEO will lead the collaborative’s strategy, steward and grow its national network of funders, and ensure continued alignment across its core priorities — investing in, expanding, and advancing gun violence prevention efforts nationwide.
