Zulma Miranda is a human rights attorney, partnership and philanthropy advisor, and a dedicated social justice and peace advocate with over two decades of experience at the forefront of global partnership development. Passionate about advancing social justice, she has spearheaded strategic initiatives that unite leaders and movements across sectors.
With a career spanning various roles and organizations, Zulma has demonstrated a remarkable ability to build organizational resilience, foster trust-based partnerships, and support community-centered projects. Her expertise in responsive philanthropy strategies and intersectional solidarity for racial, gender, and ethnic justice has led to significant impact across diverse sectors, raising over $100 million for key initiatives through trust-based relationships with philanthropic entities.
Zulma's expertise as a legal expert spans a wide range of issues, including international law and development, conflict resolution, transitional justice, and the women, peace, and security agenda. She has spearheaded international programs across Asia, EMEA, LATAM, and North America, where she developed legal strategies and provided technical expertise on international and regional human rights frameworks, agreements, and instruments in partnership with grassroots activists and leaders.
Prior to joining Proteus, Zulma held senior counsel and advisory roles at institutions including the ACLU, Auburn, Burma Lawyer’s Council, Equality Now, UN Women, and World Pulse. She is also the founder of Co.Create, an independent consultancy in the conflict resolution space, bringing people together across lines of difference to build a better way forward.
Zulma holds a Juris Doctor from CUNY Law School and has been admitted to the New York State Bar. She also holds a Master's degree in International Law and Diplomacy from St. John's University. Zulma is a mediator and circle keeper with the New York Peace Institute and a member of Mediators Beyond Borders International.
