Dan McConvey
Director of Foundation Relations
The Center
Dan McConvey brings more than ten years of nonprofit experience in development, operations, training, and advocacy to this role at The Center. He most recently served as a Development Officer at Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC), a National Community Development Financial Institution based in NYC. On LISC’s fundraising team, he worked closely with LISC’s 37 local offices and program teams to help them meet their fundraising goals. He also founded and was elected lead for their LGBTQ+ Affinity Group and worked closely with their DEIJ (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice) team to advance internal and external racial justice and other DEIJ-related goals.
Prior to joining LISC, Dan worked at the Boston Foundation, where he cultivated pledges from companies and founders for the Pledge 1% Boston initiative. He helped manage the grantmaking process for their LGBTQ+ Fund (The Equality Fund) and worked closely with the fund’s LGBTQ+ Advisory Board to broaden their base of LGBTQ+ donors, increase planned giving, and coordinate events, including a forum on Advancing Equity for LGBTQ+ People in Massachusetts. Dan also supported the fundraising and philanthropic efforts of the Adirondack Foundation and Hubbard Brook Research Foundation.
Dan earned his BA in Anthropology at SUNY Geneseo, an MBA in Nonprofit Management, and a Master of Public Policy from Brandeis University’s Heller School, where he was selected as a fellow for the Eli J. & Phyllis N. Segal Citizen Leadership Program. He has also served for two years as an AmeriCorps VISTA member in Boston.
Dan was born in Buffalo and grew up in Wilmington/Lake Placid, New York, in the Adirondacks. He currently lives in Hell's Kitchen with his partner, Andrew, and their ridiculous hairless cats, Maggy and Goose.
