Christian Govea

Director of Access and Opportunity

United Way Fresno and Madera Counties

Christian joins UWFM with a background in relationship management, stakeholder communications, strategic planning, and workflow optimization while serving marginalized communities through his experience in workforce development and financial empowerment. Having most recently served as the Partnership Program Manager at Community Financial Resources (CFR), Christian cultivated CFR's portfolio of 150+ nationwide partnerships, developed partner and constituent facing materials, and monitored a network of relationships that served as foundation for ensuring individuals have access to safe, fair, and affordable financial products.

Previously, Christian worked at the Center for Employment Opportunities (CEO) where he initially developed and implemented a strategic plan for matching a caseload of reentry program participants with employment opportunities, taking into consideration each participant's skills, work experience, interests, goals, and aspirations as the Business Account Manager in Fresno. Shortly after, he served as the Senior Associate of Innovation and Technical Assistance on CEO's Platform team where he directed the delivery of high-quality technical assistance on SNAP E&T across key activities including webinars, specialized training, and individualized peer support for several CBOs and government entities.

In an effort to provide a more holistic support to both program constituents and staff alike, Christian has immersed himself in the DEI space. Having previously served as an LGBTQ+ Affinity Group Leader and DEI Ambassador at CEO, he also obtained a DEI in the Workplace certificate from the University of Southern Florida. Christian has continued to expand his education through obtaining a Certified Scrum Master certificate, an OSHA 30 certificate, and holds dual associate degrees in both Psychology and Business Management. He is currently working towards his bachelor’s degree in accounting at California State University, Fresno with the intention of providing justice-impacted entrepreneurs pro-bono accounting services.

In his spare time, Christian enjoys raising his rambunctious three-year-old son, planning vacations with his large extended family, attending local rock shows and country concerts, and is an avid MMA fan.
