Dion Wade
Chief Financial Officer
Center for Child Protection

Dion’s background is in nonprofit finance, where he has worked across budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning with a focus on helping organizations make clear, grounded decisions in complex environments. He is particularly drawn to building systems that translate financial information into something usable in real time—so leaders can respond to what’s actually happening in their communities, not just what’s on paper.
Before joining the Center, Dion held financial leadership roles at organizations including BrightSpark Early Learning Services and Seattle University. In those roles, he focused on strengthening budgeting processes, improving financial visibility, and supporting long-term planning—especially during periods of growth, transition, or uncertainty. His approach is steady and collaborative: creating structure that allows organizations to stay aligned with their mission while adapting to real-world conditions.
What Dion values most in this work is the ability to support organizations that are directly engaged in strengthening their communities. To him, financial leadership is not just about oversight—it’s about stewardship: helping resources flow where they’re most needed, and building systems that support resilience, accountability, and long-term wellbeing.
Dion is excited to return to Texas, and especially to the Austin community. Texas has been a meaningful throughline in his life, and he’s looking forward to contributing locally—building relationships, understanding the specific challenges families are facing, and supporting work that responds thoughtfully and directly to those realities.
Outside of work, Dion stays active and engaged through a mix of physical and creative pursuits. He grew up playing football and still enjoys pickup basketball, which he values for both the competition and the connection it creates with others. Dion spends a lot of time outdoors with his dogs, rides horses when he can, and enjoys working with his hands—often building or shaping something from an initial idea. Whether through movement, time in nature, or creative work, He is drawn to activities that keep him grounded, present, and connected to the people and environment around him.
Dion is drawn to work that creates lasting, tangible impact—where strong systems and human connection come together to support children, families, and the communities they call home.
