

Anthony Rivera

Anthony started his career in the tourism and attraction industry operating and leading some of New York City most popular attractions. With over 30 years of experience Anthony has a proven track record of excellence in operational leadership, strategic planning, data analysis, technology integration, financial acumen, andin change management. Anthony has consistently demonstrated his ability to enhance the guest experiences and drive organizational success. Throughout his journey Anthony has had responsibilities overseeing all aspects of establishing and driving the success of prosperous attractions, which included operations, facilities, security and safety, guest experience, marketing and communications, public relations, finance, development, exhibit design, and education. During his time in numerous roles, Anthony has implemented countless new initiatives that improved efficiency, profitability, and the overall experience of the attraction.
Recognizing his talent and experience in the attraction business, along with the success in his previous roles, Anthony was recruited to become the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the Clearwater Marine Aquarium in 2023, where he was tasked with designing and implementing the master plan for leading the aquarium into the future. As the COO, he was focused on expanding the organization's reach, increasing revenue, designing diverse habitats, extending the brand, strengthening education and research/conservation platforms, all the while enhancing the overall guest experience.
Before joining Clearwater Marine Aquarium, Anthony served as the Senior Vice President of Operations and Hospitality at Georgia Aquarium, where he oversaw daily operations and focused on optimizing the visitor experiences for millions of guests. His strategic leadership contributed significantly to guest satisfaction and operational efficiency. Under his leadership Georgia Aquarium was able to lead the industry in many facets, a few notable projects. Anthony lead was establishing the first aquarium to earn Certified Autism Center (CAC) designation in 2018. As well as implementing a contactless customer journey by introducing a new ticketing/access and security screening process while contributing to the development of a new dynamic educational dolphin presentation.
Earlier in his career, Anthony worked at the iconic Rockefeller Center observation deck, Top of the Rock in New York City for over a decade as the Director of Operations. In this role, he was responsible for crafting strategies, developing policies, driving revenue, and managing operations to ensure the best experience for the three million visitors each year. During his tenure Top of the Rock enjoyed record attendance and revenue while boosting its strongest guest satisfaction scores. Anthony also held management position at Madame Tussauds New York, where he helped establish the daily operations and the implementation of interactive experiences. Along with ensuring an engaging experience for guest Anthony oversaw the retail, concession, photo, ticketing, and facilities of the attraction. Anthony’s career began in the visitor services sector at the American Museum of Natural History, where he was instrumental in maintaining operations for more than 3.5 million guests, including managing the IMAX Theater, planetarium, special exhibitions, and parking facility. Notably, he was part of the opening team for the Rose Center for Earth and Space planetarium.
In addition to his extensive operational experience, Anthony is actively engaged with the Association of Zoos and Aquariums, serving on their trends committee, and is a member of the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA). His commitment to enhancing guest experiences and operational excellence continues to shape the attractions and tourism landscape.
